Self-love is beautiful, comforting, and absolutely vital to your well-being. It is filling your own well so that you may have more to give in service to others. You cannot love and have compassion for others if you are not loving and having compassion for yourself.


Self-love does not have to be elaborate and time consuming, although it certainly can be if you want it to be. It is simply honoring yourself and caring for yourself in mind, body, and spirit.


I am often asked about ways to practice self-love. Use your interests and passions as a guide to help you come up with ways to practice self-love that are enjoyable to you. Below is a list of 35 ideas for practicing self-love. Use it as inspiration to help you come up with your own ways to practice self-love that are unique to you.

  1. Read an inspiring book, or re-read your favorite book
  2. Give yourself a manicure, or visit the salon
  3. Go for a walk in nature
  4. Take a nap
  5. Spend time in prayer or meditation
  6. Go out to lunch with a friend
  7. Take a relaxing bath
  8. Say no
  9. Diffuse your favorite essential oils
  10. Listen to your favorite music
  11. Do something creative: craft project, paint, color, sing etc
