What It Means To Be In Your Power
To stand in your personal power is a very freeing feeling. What exactly does it mean to be in your power? To be in your power means to stand in your truth about who you are, and what your values are. It is treating others and yourself with kindness, gentleness, and love with balance and gentle strength. Practicing self-care, setting personal boundaries, and not allowing others to define you or how you feel about yourself are some fundamental ways to stand in your personal power.
Ways We Give Our Power Away
Are you a people pleaser, always saying yes to anything asked of you? Do you give in to the demands of your kids, significant other, co-workers, or even your boss? Do you invalidate your own feelings or desires for the sake of others, or to please them? When we need the approval or validation of others to feel good about ourselves, we are giving our personal power away. When we think negative thoughts about ourselves and engage in negative self-talk, or excessive self-criticism, we are giving our power away. So how do we take back our personal power? By finding our fire.
3 Ways To Take Back Your Power
Self-care is the first step to taking back our power. Engaging in regular self-care is the foundation and innermost truth of being able to stand in our power. When we practice a regular self-care routine, we are able to love ourselves with full acceptance, stable balance, and liberating freedom. When we ourselves are full of peace, love, joy, kindness, gentleness, strength, and acceptance, we are then able to richly pour into and bless others.
When we are able to fully accept our flaws and imperfections and learn to love ourselves there, we are then able to stand in the gentle strength of knowing who we are; our strengths, and our weaknesses. We are then able to meet others right where they are and give them love and acceptance regardless of our differences. Disengage in negative self-talk. Speak life and love to yourself. Build yourself up, instead of tearing yourself down. With acceptance, life becomes more enjoyable and peaceful.
3. Set Personal Boundaries
We are in control of how others treat us. What we allow will continue. To stand in your power, you must set personal boundaries. Find your fire to say no when you mean no. Speak up for yourself and don’t give in when others try to make you feel guilty for not giving in to their demands. Develop healthy personal and emotional boundaries that give you control of how you spend your time and who you spend it with.
Finding your fire requires self-care, acceptance, and balance, while facilitating strength, confidence, and independence. Standing in your power and knowing your inner truth is the key to living a peaceful balanced life full of joy and abundance.
